All Schools Touch

Stretton’s Touch Academy students have been hard at work preparing for All Schools Touch throughout the year.  Unfortunately, the campaign came to a premature end due to weather.

Thank you to all students, parents and staff for the support of our teams in preparing and participating in our 2018 Queensland All Schools campaign.  We are extremely proud of our academy’s effort in its inaugural year and cannot wait to continue preparations for 2019 Queensland All Schools and 2020 World All Schools.

A special mention must go to our 13 Years Boys team who secured a top eight finish after pool match calculations.  Your dedication to this team has been outstanding throughout the year and it was a privilege to coach you.  Let us not think of what could have been but what is to come boys! – Mr Todd Leavitt

State Track and Field

Congratulations to Xavier Atoa who finished 10th overall in the 100m sprint after the semi-finals today at the State Track and Field Championships.  Although only 8 runners make it through to the final, he ran a PB of 12.18s.  Blistering speed and such a wonderful athlete – well done Xavier!

Junior Volleyball Schools Cup

Junior Schools Cup was held over the weekend of October 19-21. This competition is the state volleyball carnival for students in year 7 and 8. Our girls were entered into division 1 for their first Schools Cup and finished top of their pool. After some tough matches, the team finished a galant 6th! Well done girls and thanks to our wonderful parents who came to cheer us on!

Qld Speedway Championships

Stretton would like to give a big congratulations to Joshua Beetham, who over the weekend competed at the Queensland Speedway Championships.  Josh competes on a 125cc speedway bike in the U16 age group at just 12 years old.

In the Solo Championships Josh finished in an amazing 4th place and in the Pairs Championships he competed with another young rider, Liam Powell, where they finished in 3rd place.

Great work Josh!

Metro Semi Finals

Today our Intermediate Girls Soccer team played their Semi Final against Chisholm Catholic College at Redlands United FC.  The team is made up of a mixture of Year 7, 8, 9 and 10 students.  Isabella Francisco captained the team in the absence of other senior students.

All students played exceptionally in difficult conditions with many playing out of position for sections of the game.  We ended up losing 5-1 but capped off the game with a stunning free kick from Elyse Bramley.

This game finished off an exceptional year for our football program with 3 district premierships and finals appearances across the Illaweena Campus.

A special thank you to all students who played for the Intermediate Girls team throughout the year.
